Discover 9 Great Car Battery Maintenance Tips

1. Drive your vehicle regularly

Leaving your vehicle stationary for an extended period affects your battery’s charge. To maintain the required level of charge in your battery make sure you regularly drive your vehicle.

2. Have your engine serviced regularly

Poor engine condition can overload the battery and reduce its life.

3. Check the battery charging rate

Have the charging rate checked at every major service. Both under and over-charging will reduce car battery life and void the warranty.

4. Avoid draining

Avoid leaving vehicle accessories on regularly as this will discharge the battery which will then require a recharge. Constant recharging may shorten the life of your battery.

5. Keep the car battery case clean

Remove the clamps and clean away grease, dirt and oxidation. A filthy battery connection will weaken the charge.

6. Secure your car battery

Check that your battery is secure at all times, as vibrations can damage the battery plates. Battery acid spilling all over your motor is also bad. Inspect battery terminals regularly; loose connections can also cause breakdowns. Make sure the battery sits correctly.

7. Don't jump start a flat car battery

Don’t attempt a jump-start as it can damage the electronics in many modern cars. If you have a flat battery, call us at +603-8081 6796.

8.  Recycle your Battery

Automotive batteries are full of toxic chemicals and have to be dealt with specially when they die. The green thing to do is to squeeze as much life out of them as possible and decrease the overall amount of batteries that you are going to need in your lifetime.

9.   Add Distilled Water

If you're stretching the life of a conventional battery, you may have to add some water to it.  The water and acid mixture in the battery (electrolyte) should be about 1/2 inch deep or to the bottom of the fill hole. If it needs water, use clean distilled water, being careful not to overfill the cells, and then inspect the battery case for cracks. If you find a crack, replace the battery.
